The ELC is a non-profit facility for increasing environmental literacy among children and adults. Nature trails, elevated boardwalks, indoor exhibits, and native plant gardens can be explored. A full schedule of workshops, field trips, and other outings. The ELC is a place where people from all walks of life can learn to cherish, preserve and foster our natural treasures.

Indian River County Extension Service

The department provides un-biased research-based information to county residents to assist in solving problems. Support from the University of Florida, the USDA, and other agencies enables this department to aid residents, businesses, and organizations in using best management practices in food production, landscape and home management, youth and human development, and natural resources. Resources are multiplied by the use of volunteers such as 4-H leaders, Master Gardeners, Yard Advisors and Extension homemakers, which are recruited, trained and supported by the Extension staff.
McKee Botanical Garden

The mission of McKee Botanical Garden is to nurture and enhance an historic garden in a unique tropical setting for the education, enjoyment and enrichment of all. McKee Jungle Garden was founded in 1932 by Arthur G. McKee, a Cleveland industrialist, and Waldo E. Sexton, a pioneer in Indian River County's development. 18 acres of the original property are being restored and the first phase is scheduled to re-open in 2000.
Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area
298 acres along the Indian River Lagoon in southern Indian River County. The trail system takes you through a variety of distinct natural communities. A canopy of live oaks, orchids, wild coffee bushes, mangrove wetlands and wildlife are part of the experience. There is a bird watching observation platform and tower and the "Awesome Pine" the largest Slash Pine tree in the world.

Pelican Island Preservation Society, Inc. is an environmental education organization with the following goals: To heighten awareness of Pelican Island and the more than 500 national wildlife refuges, To present six public environmental educational meetings per year, To promote national recognition for the natural heritage of the Sebastian area, and To sponsor an annual event celebrating the anniversary of Pelican Island.
Sea Turtle Preservation Society
Working in tandem with the Archie Carr Wildlife Refuge, the Society educates the public about marine turtles. Visitors are welcome to participate in turtle walks during the nesting season, from May to August.
