Located in Indian River Memorial Hospital, the Sleep Disorder Center has four sleep rooms separated by a computerized diagnostic lab, where technicians monitor the pulse, respirations, eye movement, muscle tone and brain activity of patients.

Sleep disorders may involve multiple breathing cessations during the night, sudden and uncontrollable attacks of excessive sleepiness, sleep walking, nightmares, insomnia or leg cramps. Treatment may involve use of a mask, worn over the nose to apply pressure to keep the throat open, lifestyle change (alcohol/weight loss) or surgery to widen the upper archway.
