There are 21 public school campuses located in Indian River County. Twelve elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools serve 14,500 students. The School District is recognized as a leader in its commitment to computer assisted instruction. IRENE (the Indian River Education NEtwork), the first local telecomputing system in the area originally founded to assist students, parents and educators, continues to provide free and pay access to e-mail and the internet.
